Ready to start living my future

Kay, Age 70

Hello again. This is my 2nd entry . My 1st was when I was still 69.

So on 2/10/15 I turned 70! It just sounds “old” but I am exactly the same. I know I was afraid I would be treated differently @ work once they found out. That is just crazy thinking on my part. What I know is true “now” is that I need to continue working because it is a stimulating environment. My coworkers respect and need me and that feels good.

My problem is that I need to get “moving” by going back to the gym. I want to learn how to write and do my own illustrations. So there I said it …2 things I need to start today!

So here on 3/1/15 I am ready to start living my future. Yes I do have physical crap to deal with (diabetes & asthma), but they are not barriers to me. I just have a strong desire to feel at peace with myself. Until I write again, “BE WELL.” So glad I found this site.

I want to know about turning 70, I am getting close and it frightens me! I have accomplished quite a lot in life, got married (going on 47 years), had a child, went to college, got a Masters and PhD. (even was a Harvard Visiting Scholar). Worked at great places, started a business that is still operating after 37 years (while doing all of the above). Health is good (knock on wood). Don’t feel old but getting close to 70 sounds old. Sandy,
Hi, I turned 70 today, and am having problems coping with this reality. But what I want you to know; I had both knees replaced 8 years ago, it was the best thing I ever had done. I, too, put it off for 20 years, and regret that now. Within a month, I was driving, and doing everything I hadn’t done “comfortably” for many years. I still did, but would cry with pain when finished. I was “bone-on-bone” from osteo-arthritis, was able to do, but in a lot of pain. Please, don’t put it off any longer. Find the best knee surgeon you can, have the surgery, and do what he says (as far as therapy). I, always did a little extra therapy, at home and have NEVER regretted that decision. I can even kneel, which being an avid gardener, helps. He told me, the more you use your knees, the better you will feel and the longer they will last. As far as my knees, I am 99%. Please, don’t put it off any longer; you’ll never regret having it done. I’ll be thinking of you. Dot
